Indie Trailer Sunday: Michael Winterbottom’s The Killer Inside Me
This trailer has been out for a few days now, but I thought it was the perfect trailer to feature today, not only because no one is at work on a Sunday, but because it’s a great indie trailer. The Killer Inside Me is the latest film from British filmmaker Michael Winterbottom about a West Texas deputy sheriff who is slowly unmasked as a psychotic killer. Casey Affleck stars as the sheriff and is joined by Jessica Alba, Kate Hudson, Simon Baker, Elias Koteas, and Bill Pullman. I also need to warn everyone that this is a full-on 5 minute promo trailer which means it contains nudity, violence, sex, you name it. So don’t watch it with the kids!

Sheriff Lou Ford (Casey Affleck) has a lot of problems. Woman problems. Law enforcement problems. An ever-growing pile of murder victims in his West Texas jurisdiction. And that he’s a sadist, a psychopath, a killer. Suspicion soon begins to fall on Lou, and it’s only a matter of time before he runs out of alibis.
The Killer Inside Me is directed by British filmmaker Michael Winterbottom, of Butterfly Kiss, Wonderland, The Claim, 24 Hour Party People, Tristram Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story, The Road to Guantanamo, and A Mighty Heart. The script was written by director John Curran and is an adaptation of Jim Thompson’s novel of the same name. This doesn’t have a US distributor yet and is being sold by Wild Bunch. Stay tuned!
