Hooking Up with Mysterious Chicks on Facebook Gets Freaky in Catfish
Two documentary filmmakers — Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman — decide to make a movie about Ariel’s brother as he begins a relationship with a gorgeous woman via Facebook. As the events unfold, however, the guys discover that things aren’t at all what they seem, and that the attractive female on the other end isn’t exactly who she claims to be. My first instinct is to cry bullshit, but apparently this thing is 100% true. Which isn’t really that surprising given the outrageous number of freaks and geeks that populate most social networking services. Of course, I wouldn’t be at all shocked to discover that this intriguing endeavor is completely fake, and that yours truly has been hoodwinked by yet another fictional tale posing as the truth.
